I'm pretty new to all this PSN stuff and have just purchased a PS4 which I'm loving.

I set my PSN account region to South Africa but am now wondering if it'd be better to get a new account and change region to UK or US or whatever before I invest any real time and money such as joining PS+ or getting some DLC etc.

Are there any benefits to having a foreign account such as cheaper games and is it even possible to do in the same way as my Apple account is in the US?

If you purchase physical discs here then it's better to get a local account as DLC purchased on a US account will not be compatible.

The US have flash sales now and again where you can get games for far less than the usual price.

What country are you set to and do you think overall it's worth setting it to other than SA? An do you know if you can purchase with a SA credit/debit card?

I'm going to UK in September and plan on buying a few games nice and cheap, so am just getting my facts straight before I go any further with my profile and purchases.

I should add that at this stage I only own a PS3. Will consider getting a PS4 next year.

I have both an SA and US account. I purchase games and DLC using vouchers on both accounts because of that PSN hack a few years made me a bit fearful so I don't know if a SA credit will be accepted on the US PSN.

AFAIK games from the UK are compatible with an SA account. Other guys are free to correct me on that.

Cool. Thanks for the info.

I would say use your SA Account as your primary account for PS+ as well as DLC for games you may buy physically.

You can setup a secondary US account to buy any specials that might come across the US store and still play those on your primary SA account.

That's the way I've done it and it works well.

Can't use your Credit Card on the US store which is problematic. So I just buy the really proper specials with prepaid credit bought from Amazon.

Or you can buy codes from places like Gamedealdaily.com etc. Just remember that any DLC needs to be purchased from the same store, which is why I recommended using an SA account as a primary always.

Good tips, thanks for sharing.
