Hi, my friend just bought a psp but it came with version 2.01, from what I've read everywhere you can't downgrade to version 1.5 from 2.01, is any way to downgrade or is he pretty much screwed?

Thanx in advance

He should be able to downgrade, just dont upgrade your firmware any higher... HOWEVER, I would be careful if he buys any games for the PSP, if he does, the game usually forces a firmware update or refuses to play.

The exploit used to downgrade is a PNG file running code in it (or was it tif) just google it. You'll find it. Be sure to get a 2gb memory stick (games can't go higher than 1.8gb) and enjoy your favorite titles ;) I did... but got bored with the PSP and sold it...

Yup just recently got outta the beta stages and now works... upgrade to 2.5\2.6 ... then you can downgrade to 1.5

:)

You know, I was thinking about this whole downgrading thing the other day, I run 2.71 on my psp and dont really want to downgrade since I will lose a few features. (WMA, RSS, Flash, etc)

Why dont they work harder to get homebrew stuff working on newer firmware? Did Sony really get that clever?
