I've just checked and my PSP's firmware is v1.51 - is it worth upgrading to v2 and if I do can I ever downgrade back to 1.51 should the need arise?

Aparently there is a oke working on a downgrader, but in general stick with the lowest firmware you can. 1.51 cannot run homebrew so it sucks a litle the coming downgrader can aparently downgrade to 1.50. I got a 1.50 myself and i can say with certainty that I will not want to loose my ability to run homebrew apps from my memory stick.

yes you do NOT want to upgrade, people get caught in this trap thinking a bigger firmware version number is better or that it has cooler features, but the firmware upgrades are mainly copy protection releated upgrades, if you want to play "backups" and homebrew code you want any version smaller thna 1.51

If you're not into playing copied games (sorry I don't take this Homebrew thing seriously) then version 2.0 will be a good upgrade (main feature is new internet browser :) )

you dont take homebrew seriously? yes you want the smaller firmware to play copied games, of bloody course but the PS is not just a game console and if you want to do cool stuff you need to run homebrew, id prefer a homebrew browser, or ssh client, im client etc etc over a sony browser

But if Vio is correct in saying that I cant run homebrew on 1.51 is there any reason not to upgrade - or will homebrew run on my 1.51?

no it wont BUT the downgrader is for 1.51 and 1.52 firmware, so you will have a shorter wait to play homebrew with a 1.51 than a 2.00
