PSP HELP!

Hi
I am having a problem with my psp.
My start button is not working.
In order for me to get it to work I have to push down the HOLD button then (in a game) the start menu is displayed. Also when I try to enter a new nickname or an address in the browser it will enter the screen for me to type but it immediatly exits as if the start button is constantly being pushed down.

All help appreciated.
