Anyone had the opportunity to play with a PSP yet?

I've figured out I can get one from amazon with 2 games and a 512mb card for less than Take2 or Kalahari is going to sell it for - without any of the extras.

I guess my question is - is it worth it? For the games and as a media player?
 
I have two, and they are farking worth the money, play online via an access point surf the web take pictures etc mp3, mp4 and everything!

Just how are you gonna get amazon to ship it too you? They refuse to ship games/electronics outside the EU :(

I was referring to Amazon.com - they're even cheaper than the UK one. I have it sent to a colleague who regularly sends me stuff for work - no problem having him add something to the next package.

i own a psp for a week and a half now, if you get one get the 1.0 firmware, its worth it especially if you get a big mem stick, like the 2GB ones

look I have a nintendo DS as well, the ds is awesome the games are so original but the psp graphics are really worth it
 
Jst remember when he sends you the package, he mustnt say its a psp.
Sony are halting illegal imports becuase of some unvailing?
 
yeah lik-sang are getting sued, but that sbecause sony are too stupid to realise that we live in a global enviroment now, anyways lik-sang are not only cheap but fast too

How will I know what the firmware is likely to be? I figured just the 512mb card for the moment - when the 2gb prices drop - as they will - I'll get one and let the missus have the 512 for her Sony-Ericsson cellphone.

No worries - we've got the system perfected.
 
you can check on the device ir ask whomever you buy it from, by default now sony want everyone to use 1.51 firmware but thats because it stops you playing cracked games and homebrew code, the cracked games i understand but the only reason I got mine is for the homebrew code.

You can get 2GB mem sticks at flea markets and all those unoficial places in this country for like 1000, the largest games are gonna be 1.7gb, right now the largest is 1.1GB so if you were to play UMDRips you would need at least a gb, although some groups rip the dummy files and alot of games are 200 or less without em

Cool - thanks. Will check that out. Is it possible to have the it flashed with the earlier firmware?

Slim go and upgrade your firmware to 2.0 coz sony games wont let you play witout it, plus you also get themes and backgrounds

Even if you have homebrew appz sony will code thier games.
I still cant even find homebrews that work on 1.5
 
all the new firmware does is change the file loader, i know psypsp are working on it, the old was a elf format loader the new one will take a month or so to figure out all the ins and outs

sony arent gonna stop reverse engineering just cuz they upgrade firmware
 
i pre-ordered my PSP from BT Games... rather have the normal SA price and expect proper support than an import. I've played with the demo PSP at the shop and was quite pleasantly surprised by its graphics and sound... controls are similar to a PS gamepad but the analog stick on the left takes a while to get used to.

just a couple of weeks left for the official SA release... :)
 
Just ordered it from Amazon.com - 1gb card as well (it was under $100 so why not). Even with my delivery method it should arrive before release here and with all the extras (including 2 games).
 
What was the end total bwana v.3 via amazon?

My mind is still wrestling with buying the PSP or saving for the PS3 + a couple of launch titles...
