Hi,

I want to build a VOIP PC (Trixbox)

How can I hook up the existing analog phone system to pc?

Can I use an old dial up pci card?

Thanks

Hey.

You need a digium (or similar) interface card.

Good luck, analogue can be a bit quirky.

What exactly is your setup? Are you replacing an office PBX and wanting to reuse analogue handsets or do you want to hook up an analogue Telkom line to the PBX?

I assume you are going to use trixbox pro and ce and the support has been canned a while back.

why not consider something like freepbx or elastix ?

as far as the cards go, you can check ebay for FXO/FXS pstn interface cards you can get away with a less than R1K for a 4 port card that uses digium drivers.

if you want to buy local check http://www.scoopdistribution.co.za/index.php/voice-over-pci-cards-c-44_67 these cards work well in elastix and freepbx and are detected by the system, so no re-compling required

Great advice thanks

Too bad they dont sell the TDM-400 which could have saved me some bucks.
