PSU down?

I tried the BIOS reset and are not comfortable to play with the PSU ;)

Perhaps when I am done I will have a new PC if it isn't the MB! :D

Any suggestions for a new MB?

CPU: i5-2500k SandyBridge
GPU: 8800GT

Outgoing MB: Asus P8P67 Pro Rev3.1

So far I found these two:

Asus P8Z68-V Pro Gen3
Asus P8H77-M LE

+1 to Ponder's suggestion.

Or if you need more USB ports and SATA ports, then go for the non-M version: ASRock Z77 Pro4

BUT first see if your current motherboard isn't still under warranty!

I did mail prophecy on Friday to enquire how the warranty will work and the process involved.

I did however decide that I will get a new MB seeing as I suspect the warranty process won't be that quick (unless I am mistaken) and I want to get the pc up and running, as this laptop I work with atm is not the greatest! ;)

That ASRock does look very good. Any suggestions on where I can buy it?

Ummm I had the same problem once, it was a failed graphics card

The pc switches on, all the fans are on full speed but it just doesnt boot, it was an old XT1600pro I remember, reseated everything and eventually swapping the GPU worked.

Did you ever try changing or removing the GPU card?

It appears if there is a general shortage of the ASRock Z77 Pro4 in SA.

Any other board that I can safely look at? I will also google again, but thought to post as well.

The best advice I can give (although this may be too late) is to find a friend with a compatible pc and swap each component into their pc one at a time, eliminating every possibility. I'd hate for you to end up buying a whole lot of components you didn't need. The motherboard itself is slightly trickier to test, but if you've tested your RAM, graphics card, PSU and anything else that may stop it booting you can be pretty sure that it's the CPU/mobo. Good luck :)

Thanks yes, I did take it to the local Matrix who tested it for me and also concluded it is the MB

Oh good :) Be cautious when switching to the new mobo though, sometimes there are driver issues with the OS that you will need to sort out. Generally only when switching cpu brands or generations though so you should be good ;)

OK, thanks guys got it going again with new MB...one issue though, but will start a new thread for that
