Hi all

Looking for some recommendations.

The case can handle 10 x 3.5 inch drives, this is future state, 10 x HDD's.

The MB can handle 6 SATA 600 drives day one,
Will be adding 1 x PCI/SATA3 expansion card with 4x SATA 600 ports to give me the 10 SATA ports required.

Looking for a PSU (Prob 550Watt) that have 10 power connectors for the 10 HDD's, would be a bonus if the PSU is modular so that only cables required is plugged in.

OS will go onto a 32GB USB stick,
Plex caching with go onto a M.2 SSD which is directly onto the MB.

You don't need sata 3 for mechanical hard drives, sata 2 will do just fine as you wont exceed the speed of 300MB/s on a sata 2 port with mechanical drives.

Thanks, knew... Board is SATA 3 (600) based, so those are the ports I have. No sense in buying a older lower spec board.

Back to my PSU question ?

I don't know of any PSU that's gonna give you 10x sata connectors out of the box.

Have a look at https://www.wootware.co.za/super-fl...ified-fully-modular-desktop-power-supply.html which will give 6xsata + 4xmolex. You can usually pick up a molex to 2x sata adapter cables giving you 14xsata power connectors. This one https://www.wootware.co.za/super-fl...ified-fully-modular-desktop-power-supply.html should give you 12x sata ports using adapter cables for R400+ less....

awesome, thanks, was thinking/guessing it will be something like this,

I will be putting 5 x 4 TB Seagate Iron Wolf's day one, and then also add some 2TB older drives I have, have a couple laying around, and as I get more money they will be migrated out replace hopefully by 8TB drives taking me to a 5 x 4TB + 5 x 8TB eventually setup. Don't see me filling that up with what I have (storage requirement) at home,
