Good day..

I think I need to get a new PSU.. but not sure if it's needed.. so I come to ask for help.. If a new PSU is needed, please could you direct me to the one which will be best suited for me.. Thanks..

Currently in my computer:

i3 530
4GB DDR 3
500GB
1TB
1.5TB
DVD-rom
460GTX
12cm FAN

All this is running off the 470 Odin PSU..

Is the Odin good enough.. or should I get another one?

(FYI: My computer does switches on.. )

Thanks

I'd get a Corsair 750watt PSU - 7year warranty.

Whhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaatt :wtf:
That is serious overkill. A decent (ie not an odin) 400W PSU would be enough. 500W is already in the overkill zone. 750W for the rig in the OP is just silly

You'll need either a very good 400W PSU or a decent 500W one.
The Odin 470 should actually work if it's running all the peripherals except for the graphics card from the 1st +12V rail, but my guess is that its running all the peripherals except the CPU from the 2nd +12V rail, in which case it simply won't cut it. So I'd recommend that you rather get a new PSU.

The cheapest, yet decent PSU, that I know of that should work is the Corsair CX500, which should be around R600.
Next in line would be the Silverstone Strider Essential 500W & Antec HCG 520W, with the Antec one being way stronger & more efficient than the other 2.

Try to go for one of the PSU's that I've suggested and you really won't regret it :)

Another brand that is awesome is Seasonic.

Corsair 550watt or coolermaster gx550watt are what you need.

I tried to find those that you stated in your post at computer shops, but the thing is I couldn't find any of them.. :(

Like the best ones I could find from Crossair was: Tx650W going for R1099 at chaos... Which is a bit too expensive... :(

Can you tell me where I can get those PSU? But not from something that is online?

THe power supply that I found was:

(All huntkey..)

550w = R429
600w = R529
700w = R699

jumper 550w = R839
CA Tx650w R 1099

That was all I could find..

You guys do realize on the setup he mentioned he doesn't even come close to using his current power supply right? I am currently running almost the exact same setup for a htpc and it runs on a 150w power supply.

Admittedly he has a gtx 460 in there as well but according to toms hardware he will max out under load at about 280 watts.

Well maybe that's true, but you know my PSU makes this weirds "drawing" sound that goes from soft to loud.. And it happened to my other PC but after I changed the PSU the sound went away..
