PSU problems..

kaisterkai: just buy it online from either WootWare/Landmark PC/Prophecy Shop/Zapsonline/Take2/Kalahari.
WootWare & Landmark PC are the closest to you: Somerset West & Pinelands, respectively.

Huntkey PSU's are utterly crap. Even the poor Gigabyte Odin & Coolermaster Extreme Power Plus series power supplies are better than that!

I would really suggest that you go for one of those that I've suggested, even though the Huntkey PSU's cost like 30% less.

I know I know, but the thing is that I don't really trust this online thing, rather like getting things hand to hand.. if you know what I mean..

And what about:

Vantec iON 2+ 600w?

The ION2+ 600W is pretty good, but I can't find any reviews on the 600W model though.

I just don't like dual rail power supplies, but it should be more than capable to drive a GTX 470.

Just get a Corsair CX500 and never worry again. R200 cheaper than the Vantec 600w. Almost as much wattage, with a single rail. And a year's extra warranty (3 year). It's a no brainer.

I see.. so is the ION2+ a dual rail? And what is a dual rail anyway? I have a 460 not a 470 :P

Want to, but don't know where else to get besides online.. (Which I'm not too comfortable with.. :( )

So the ION 2+ is safe to go for?

Because I googled for some reviews, and it gave me a positive feedback.. :)

Yes, the ION2+ 600W uses a dual +12V rail design.
You can read up on dual rails here: http://forums.hardwaresecrets.com/showpost.php?p=7848&postcount=2
To make a long story short, "rails" are group of wires with an independent over current protection (OCP) circuit.

The ION2+ is fairly expensive compared to the Corsair CX series, but it has a slightly better efficiency and slightly higher combined power output, however you might still be able to run a more high-end graphics card from the CX PSU if you have a not-so-powerhungry CPU due to its single rail design.

.. Thanks.. Reading now..

I see. expensive? Mm.. to be honest, I'll kind of desperate.. Because (Not sure if I mentioned above.. ) My PSU is making a drawing sound.. so I'm scared something might happen to my other hardware in my computer.. So i need to get a more powerful PSU before anything happens.. :(

Is i3 power hungry?

Well yes.

I don't know the power distribution of the Odin 470, and seeing that you have 3 HDD's (which I previously didn't see),
I would really recommend that you do get another PSU.
The Odin 470 should work, but you will run into problems when you're trying to run a game/benchmark app that would use 100% of the GPU!

The cheapest PSU that I know of that would work would be the Corsair CX500. It would still be cheaper to order it online and have it shipped to your home/work than to go to a PC shop and buy another PSU.
The ION2+ 600W should work, but please don't pay more than R780 for it, because then you might as well just order an Antec HCG 520W (which is better than the ION2+ 600W) from Prophecy Shop or Sybaritic, or you can ask Wootware & Landmark PC if they can get you that PSU for like R800 or less.

The 600watt for R599? Its cost price at Frontosa is R609 without VAT/dealer mark-up.

It's not the one with the blue light hey.. (Not the "N" version)

but yeah.. it was a matrix... You can actually go to their Website

It states R619, but it's 599 when I phoned yesterday.. so yeah..

Cool. Good deal. They must be getting from a supplier/distributor other than Frontosa then.

I'm surprised there is so little mention/recommendation of CoolerMaster PSUs. Their new PSUs are really good and reasonably priced, but in the end you get what you pay for. Holds true for most things.

Sure they're good PSUs but I think we were working on a budget.

The Extreme Powers aren't worth considering these days since the likes of Corsair released their higher wattage CX series PSUs at amazing price for value.

The CM PSUs to consider are of course the GX series, but no where close to the price of R599 for a Vantec ION2+ 600 or Corsair CX500, which would both run the OP's system 110%.

I'm really surprised that MatrixWarehouse would sell a decent PSU like that!
