Please help with PSU info

Hi guys,

I need some help please. I have 2 Q's...

1. I have a 8800GTX, 2HDD, 1DVDRW,6300CPU...... and a 500W PSU. I'm running Vista X64 (no SP installed)

Mostly it happens in grid or FarCry2. The game will throw me out and give me a error bout my display driver not responding.. bla bla bla.. Some games works fine like Crysis... Could this be because of my PSU? I don't have any 6 PIN connectors from the PSU. I use the 2 Molex -> 6 Pin connector (2 of those, lol) Should I replace my PSU?

2. My gal bought a 8800GT. She has a 300W PSU in (reason it's not working, I hope) I can get a Besta 450W PSU or a Isonic 500W PSU. Will they be both fine for her or should it be stronger?

Thanks in advance

If you're looking for a cheap psu give your girlfriend the 460Watt coolermaster psu.

With regards to your problem I think you just need to install the latest drivers for your card. If you're still having problems and wanna rule out the psu get the:

Installed the latest driver a week ago... So I know it's not that.. I'm not sure what is the req for the GTX...

I reckon it's dodgy drivers too ..... I have basically the same setup as you and when I had similar issues, someone suggested trying different drivers .... problem solved ;)

Where do I get a diff driver, lol... I downloaded the latest 180.... driver.... The older one did the same... Problem wasn't solve. my 500W PSU doesn't have a name on it. It's not dual +12 (not to sure what the diff is) but the 1 +12 is around 30.... Doesn't seem to be to bad but I did read that those molex to 6pin converters isn't a really good thing...

old Nag discs? :o But you said it happened with all drivers or just this one and the last one. Mebbe I can make a plan if you don't have access to any NAGS.

Well this driver and also n 17XXXXXXXXXXXXX driver.. I'll have to check the version tonight... Should be able to google it as well, lol

I'll check. Thanks guys...

ps: is a 400W psu fine for the gal?

just open the Nvidia control panel to get the driver version ....

and yeah, that 400W fro the GF should be plensh enough :D

Guys I got a spare 450W (but a real cheap a##) PSU. It only has 4 Molex and that's about it, lol... The card works fine in my pc. If I install this in the gal's pc I can only hear click click click click.... from the GPU. I still think it's the PSU. I just need to confirm this before I order a new Gigabyte PSU for myself and install my old 500W into her PC. Her mobo can't cause something like this? The cards is usually PCI-E v1 and v2, correct?
