Hi all
See there are a lot of aircon topics, but cannot find any good references for a Pta(Centurion) installer. The net is like a sticky maze. Lots of companies, but not all so rosy when it comes to reviews.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated!

After this weekend/December I'm not surprised! will keep an eye on the thread as I might wanna go this route

Couldn't agree more @David101 , also been sitting on the fence this side because it seems like a few places not rosy when digging deeper.

Thanx @Zarnicate will persue
Had very few responses to my quite intensive probe.
Will report on the outcomes soon!
(Seems wanting to spend money is just no incentive anymore)

*Update*
Crikey what an absolute clusterf..k!
Seems nobody really wants to take my money, and I want to install 2 aircons

Seems par for course is that I have to repeatedly follow up on quotes requested
eg. Ask for a quote on 2 x 9000BTU, X brand
Receive prices on 12000BTU, Y brand
Refer to original request, now receive quote on Z brand

I am still trying though

For what it's worth, a 9000 is very weak and only works in the smallest rooms. Rather pay a little extra for the 12000if you can stretch.

Quotes would be between 1400 to 1800, right? I think they have one quote assuming standard length of aircon pipe (can't recall how many meters though). We got one installed for 1450 but that was 2 years ago - I reckon prices would have increased now.

:thumbsup: for 12000 BTU if you can. There was hardly 1000 rand difference between 9000 BTU & 12000 BTU when we purchased 2 years ago.

What drives me to more drink....

Only 1 quote so far received has a breakdown of all the separate components

The others quote the aircon price and in brackets - installation included - so you never know what the installation cost is

But the average what I could get from some of the websites is about R1 500

Longterm look at inverter aircons bit more expensive upfront, but a 12000BTU run from a normal wall plug and uses less power.

We went to makro last week and their aircon installation cost is 1500. 1600 with builders warehouse as checked on Sunday.

Thanks will check them out this weekend. Anyone know a place where you can repair a portable aircon ?
