Public not fooled by e-toll tariffs: OUTA

According to the newspaper, Transport Minister Ben Martins said in an interview last week his department was “working very hard” to find ways to soften the effect of e-tolling.

Minister Martins, may I state this in response to your statement, "Bull Juice!"

If you were at all sincere, you would have pursued the fuel levy route from day 1. This soft story of yours does not fly.

I still ain't buying your e-tags!

What I can't understand is why minibus taxis are excluded from paying toll fees?

Is it because Sanral and the Government want to avoid the confrontation that would ensue?

Marikana will be a friendly soccer match compared to the taxi's if they were told that they would have to pay toll fees...

We don't give a toss about the effect. We care about the lack of efficiency and transparency. So get ****ed, minister

Same reason they don't pay taxes.

And were rewarded with a R50,000 taxi scrapping allowance to buy a new taxi, as part of the government taxi recapitalisation program.

Correct me, but someone mentioned mentioned the ANC pension fund has invested in this e-toll. If true, what does that tell you??

Get rich quickly by this corrupt government.

Also, who received a fat backhander for this e-toll contract, despite the money leaving SA. This official(s) only thinks about his/her fat behind!

Not the ANC fund but the PIC fund - all the civil servants.

Yeah right, exactly like his department weighed the effect of the ridiculously inefficient & expensive e-toll system vs. an additional fuel levy at zero extra admin & collection costs.

This is nothing more that corrupt leaders trying to make a quick buck at our expense.

And ex-civil servants getting pension currently. They are not too happy about this, if it does not go ahead R17b of their pension investment gone, how will the government be able to pay their pensions?

*sigh*
My poor wallet, it's so empty already!

Am I the only one feeling discouraged about the direction the country (in general) is heading?

Much as I agree with Outa's mission I feel that the drawing of correlations between this situation and what's going on in countries like Egypt was irresponsible **** stirring. **** knows I'm tired enough of economically disruptive protests. I don't think we need it to escalate to violence like what happened with the mine workers.

Inflammatory rhetoric not required. Not one bit.
