Public Protector?

I think that sounds winnable by most disgruntled south african who are being betrayed by the DoC

Lawrence Mushwana track record lately have never impressed me as an ex ANC MP, i think his judgement is baised.

I've not been following cases presented to him lately, but the Oilgate report didnt go down well and the UN report didnt do him any good.

If you don't have dual view (watch 2 record the 3'rd) can you then watch one and record one if you buy the PVR on a standard DSTV subscription?

Who can be investigated by the Public Protector?

* Government at any level. This includes central and provincial government, State departments and local authorities.
* Any person performing a public function. This includes anyone performing any official duty which affects all, or part of, the people of South Africa, for example an employee of the State such as a policeman or an electoral officer.
* Corporations or companies where the State is involved, for example Eskom and Telkom Ltd.
* Statutory councils, for example the Human Sciences Research Council and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.

What can the Public Protector investigate?

Improper prejudice suffered by the complainant or another person, for example as a result of

* abuse of power
* unfair, capricious, discourteous or other improper conduct
* undue delay
* the violation of a human right
* any other cause brought about, or decision taken by the authorities.
* Maladministration.
* Dishonesty or improper dealings with respect to public money.
* Improper enrichment.
* Receipt of improper advantage.

So we could complain about Telkom and the DoC ... and don't you think the media might take notice if they see "Public Protector investigates Telkom and Department of Communications"?

Also couldn't ICASA be investigated? undue delay regaring the ADSL report?

I don't want to sound too pessimistic here but we all thought that ICASA was there to prevent consumer exploitation among other things. How do we know that the Public Protector will be on our side? We don't afterall have the money to buy them off - Gvt and Telkom do.

Sounds like it might be worth further investigation. Nice one.

Lol:

The National Public Protector, or Ombudsman, as the Office was previously known:

# has the power to:

* investigate
* recommend corrective action
* issue reports.

ICASA must be quaking in its boots.

(Sorry, I don't mean to be cynical. I absolutely encourage this and will help wherever I can.)

I think it's worth doing regardless, we really have so few options right now, best to give it to them from all possible sides.
