I've people saying that public torrent trackers are really bad I have even read someone comparing it to having sex without a condom. Are public trackers really dangerous? For what reasons? For being caught for ppiracy or what?

Being caught, malware, password protected crap, etc.

1. Peerblock
2. Anti-virus(Eset/Bitdefender)/Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
3. Basic torrenting knowledge
ect
1. Peerblock isn't guaranteed. The lists aren't updated in real time, and they can't really be considered 100% accurate.
2. False positives can be frequent.
3. Don't see how that applies. There's no way to tell that an archive is password protected until you try to extract the contents.

My personal opinion - torrents suck ass anyway.

Just be sure to check the comments of whatever you are downloading.

Yeah, I use peerblock and I always check the comments and never download any dodgy stuff. Usually just media crap, I have never come accross a media file which is infected with unwanted baggage. Dunno if I should invest in a news server? I'm a student so I don't wanna pay for a news server if I can get the same stuff for free :)

If you know what you're doing, you can do it relatively safely. If you don't, stay very very clear.

In fact, that goes for most things on the Internet.
