Hi

Had a puncture on the weekend. Supaquik plugged it for me. My question though - is it safe to use long term?

Thx

Guys at TWT told me its stronger than the actual tire.

Only thing I found was a noise from the tire for a few km till was level with the rest of the tire.

Yup it will be fine. I drove on a tyre with a plug for a long time.

When you check your pressure, just keep an eye out on that tyre, if its always loosing pressure, get them to re-plug or at that stage evaluate if you need to replace the tyre.

Safe, yes but less so than an unpatched tire. I'd recommend driving with it but be wary of reduced tread. i.e. Its probably fine now, but a couple thousand ks down the line thing might look different. On the whole I wouldn't worry too much. The safety also depends on the car though. i.e. rwd vs fwd. Stability control or not etc.

e.g. If its in a modern BMW I'd worry significantly less...the stuff the stability control can compensate for is pretty wild.

If its a fwd & front wheel patched I'd swop with back.

Guys at TWT told me its stronger than the actual tire.
Only half true. The issue isn't whether its strong or not...the problem is the transition between tire & patch. Chances of that being weaker than pure tire is pretty high.

//Also..I have no idea what I'm talking about & the above is probably wrong. ;)

As long as its in the tread it's perfectly safe. Sidewall cannot be patched.

I drove a fairly new tire for years with a plug (until I had to replace it due to natural wear). The tire was evenly worn by the end.

Thx guys. Its fwd- not high performance and it was in the tread.

Gator® plugs are pretty tough, but NEVER in the side wall.
Yours in the tread is fine.
