Puncture repair during lockdown

Got a screw in one of my tyres this morning - went to 4 different petrol stations in my area and none could do the repair.



Today was a public holiday, so more places were closed more than usual during lockdown.

Does anyone know where I can get this puncture fixed in Cape Town (Milnerton) during lockdown?

None of them had one.

Engen, Shell and 2 x Caltex. I know a lot of garages that do tyre repairs in Gauteng. Can't find one here.

Maybe it's something that's just not done at garages here in CPT.

Also didn't spread my search radius. you know... lockdown and what not.

Garages don't usually do it around here as far as I know. If you don't have your own kit, just leave it in.

You shouldn't be driving much anyway and if the leak is very slow, don't worry about it.

I think with modern cars and speeds driven, not worth the risk for a garage owner.
I know I wouldn't: small money high risk.

Very easy to do...

Just do it at the garage where you can re-inflate afterwards. But if you do it quickly you don't lose alot of air.

Thread the plug through the needle first and cover with the glue.

Then screw out that screw and quickly re-bore with the bore tool and shove in the plug as deep as possible and pull out slowly so the plug stays behind.

Wait a few minutes and inflate...job done.

Yeah, my search radius was 4km. Felt odd. Only saw a fire engine, 3 cop cars and maybe +-6 or so regular cars on the road on my trip. Definitely feel like I was being watched. Wasn't stopped though. Cops were stationed at big intersections.

It's 2km to my nearest shop, so need my car. Did pump up my spare in case I need to swap that ol' tyre out...

Sorry for the lack of clarity, I did ask the attendants and checked in all the shops. Some garages don't even sell regular car light bulbs...

Edit: in JHB most petrol stations do the repair for around R50.

I have a repair kit, but am in Northern Suburbs unfortunately...otherwise you could have popped round and I would have fixed it for you no problem.
