I agree that a plugged tyre is fine if you cannot afford a new one. To tell someone that it will be fine at 200km/h is just plain stupid and friggin dangerous, Rouxenator or not.

I agree that a plugged tyre is fine if you cannot afford a new one. To tell someone that it will be fine at 200km/h is just plain stupid and friggin dangerous, Rouxenator or not.
If you really wanted to go 200km/h, plug the tyre and put a tube in it (also if you have rim damage, tubeless tyres won’t deflate). This will enable you to push the tyre to the New Tyre performance specifications. It is good practice to insert a tube into any punctured tyre, irrespective.

200km/h with a repaired tubeless tyre with a tube is just begging for trouble. End of story.

I got a short fat screw stuck on the side of my tyre and got it fixed for R50.
Carry one of these tyre weld tins in your car as well.
They've helped me twice already.
best stuff on the market when i had a bike. had the stuff in my wheels and road over 10 000km with no problems. all cars should have a tin in the boot.
Agreed. I had a can permanently taped to my crashbars. The only problem was I was looking for brand name Finileck and had to settle for something called ‘Blo-job’. Not very PC for public crash bar display and the babes didn’t like riding pillion.

Fair enough - so then tell us friendly neighborhood VAG dealer, what speed do you then see as the limit for a tyre with a plug? I take it that this would be a theoretical exercise for you as you have never done it?

A plugged tyre should be used as a temporary spare only. As for speed? It all depends at what speed you would like to die...by all means take your car up to 200 if you are friggin stupid enough - just make sure you don't kill anyone else in the process.
With people as stupid as you on the roads, it's no wonder South Africa has such a shocking accident rate.

Putting a tube in a tubeless tyre can cause heat buildup due to friction between the tyre and the tube, and can lead to blowouts. It's not recommended.
No it can’t. The tube is anchored by the tube valve in the rim. The tyre does not ‘spin’ on the rim any more than a tubed tyre would. There is no movement between the tyre and tube to cause the friction and heat buildup you are paranoid about.

You are actually incorrect. I suggest you go and speak to a couple of tyre gurus with respect to that. You cannot "anchor" the valve to the rim rigidly enough to prevent chafing.
Just as with other idiotic statements made in this thread, you may get away with driving around like that, and perhaps be lucky enough to get away witha blowout at a low speed. But if you want to deliberately put your life and more importantly, the lives of others at risk, by all means drive around on unsafe tyres.

Yes, always follows the Rule of Fazda which states : Max speed for plugged tyre= 80km/h or 88km/h when fog lights = on.

Guess mine was the same if I have to be honest. The speedo said 200km/h which makes the true speed about 180km/h which is about the max for the car.

If you speak to the experts (and I don't mean the experts in the playground where you eat your peanut butter sandwiches at lunchtime) it's not recommended. Perhaps you should try a little research before shooting a theory down, you don't look that good with egg on your face.
I'm not sure where you read anything about spinning. I'm not even sure if you think the tyre would spin or the tube, but it's pretty obvious to those with a two digit or higher IQ that putting a tube in is not going to cause anything to spin. The friction is actually on the sidewalls where there is flexing everytime the wheel rotates, and that is where the heat buildup occurs. It's also the most fragile part of the tyre.
And no, I'm not paranoid about it - I've driven with tubes in tubeless tyres, but at least I was aware of the risk, and not myopically blissful.
