So we have the punitive power cut 'plan' in place.

The Eishkom site says that it has shed 1GW and right now Joburg has cuts.

City Power has divided Joburg into 8 blocks and there are 16 hours of cuts in a day and blocks get cut on alternate days. Makes sense: 4 blocks in a day for 4 hours equals the 16 hours of cuts.

So, if Jozi burns about 3.5GW, turning a block off should reduce that consumption by 0.43GW (Assumes all blocks are equal in consumption).

So Joburg, that uses just over 10% or so of the power, carries just over 40% of the power cut burden.

Something isn't right here!

Albereth : don't bother trying to match the numbers they spew and what we can work out..

Eskom open their mouths and they're lying, just like every other guavamint dept/company

LOL - I am well aware that they lie - I think it is a requirement to get employment there. I was just wondering how stupid they think we are. Not that I am claiming to be a rocket scientist, mind you.

So there are lies, damn lies, statistics, and Eishcom.

Eishscom knows where the money is.

No use extorting money from poor people.

I would say that the blocks might be of equal consumption overall but those being cut during peak usage hours, might result in greater savings than those blocks cut when nobody is at home.

@Cathj - yeah - I did the simple math on the 14% increase after a 10% decrease in consumption in another thread. And BTW, the 53 is on top of the 14, not instead of.

I wish i could get a 67% salary increase.

Then i could pay for all these things.
