Punkbuster issue

Having swapped over onto the uncapped adsl, I was looking forward to playing some BF2 again.

I downloaded the 1.5 patch, installed it, loaded up the game and then couldn't join anything because I had forgotten to grab punkbuster.

So I got the pbsetup thingie, installed BF2 punkbuster, and loaded up the game.

EVERY time I try and join a server it lets me in for a couple of seconds and then boots me with "Service Communication Error PnkBstrA.exe

I have looked over the net for people who have had this problem, and the solutions are all freaking gibberish to me, and most contradict eachother. I have deleted the Pb folder from in my BF2 file and reinstalled punkbuster, but it does the same thing.

Something I noted was that the punkbuster version it updates to automatically is 2.212, and when I am actually in the game for those few seconds it shows a warning saying that punkbuster on that server is running on an older version, 2.181.

I am trying to get on the SAIX servers btw.

I am running Windows 7 64bit.

I had the identical problem.

Click on the test services button and it will start it up correctly and delete whatever shouldn't be there. I only had to do it once.
Worked a treat!

Well seeing as you are on windows 7 64 bit, you should definitely run the games as admininstrator, with Compatibility as Battlefield 2 was build for XP only not sure if patches added perfect support for Windows 7.

oh and when you do the update PB thing, Run it as admin aslo.

The pbsvc thing seems to have sorted out the communication error...huzzah!

However, punkbuster kicked me after about 2 minutes in the game with this message:
"This PB Server Requires (A1392 C2.181) - Error loading pbcl

I assume that means that it is now a problem that my Pb has been automatically updated to 2.212 while the server is still on 2.181. So...how do you chose an exact version of Pb for a specific game and install it?

*****EDIT: Nevermind....managed to fix it by putting in "pb_security 0" into the console. works fine now Thanks all!*****

Im also having that problem, I just got the game, installed it, and when i try play it kicks me out with that same error message
