I'm looking at picking up a point and shoot type digital camera. Currently I am looking at the NIKON CoolPIX S210 and the SONY S930, I'm leaning towards the SONY as I have been happy with SONY in the past. Any input would be welcome, PRO's CON's etc.

Thanks in advance.

:) 30 views and no response... wonder what response I would have got it I said it was a DSLR purchase question?

I've got a coolpix (p6000) but if I was buying today I'd be looking at one of the new canons.

If you had said DSLR I would say Canon :) If you say point-n-shoot I'll say Sony or Nikon. Not that Nikon dont make awesome DSLR's but i feel the Canons are better value for money and preferred my Canon DSLR to the Nikons i used. but its much to do about individuals. Go try em all out at Dions or Hifi Corp and then go buy it at a proper place for a cheap price.

I swinging strongly towards the SONY, I have 4 x PENTAX SLR's already and all the lenses, just want the digi for point and shoot and will use my 35mm's for the good stuff :)

in the P&S range i quite like the Canon Ixus range. My ol' Digital ixus (8 years old) 3.2MP used to produce better images than a buddy's younger Sony 5MP cam.

What are the prices for these cameras? What is your budget?

Canon SX110 - best quality pictures in its class. Should be around R2999

I managed to pick up a SONY DSC-S930 and a 2Gb DUO card for R1399

Going to play around a bit this evening :)

What every you buy make sure it accepts memory cards and batteries that you can buy off the shelf anywhere. That means SD/SDHC memory and AA batteries. Sony cameras usually make use of Sony MemoryStick and small Canon's and Nikon's often use a vendor specific rechargeable battery pack.
