Heya

Our company is currently using a *spit* access 97 database application for Purchase Orders. This has to stop.

We should be getting SAP end of 2007 (joy I get to roll that out) so we're looking for a temporary solution. I can write my own system but it's likely to be a fairly large project and I don't particularly want to spend a bunch of time making it just to replace it next year.

Does anyone know of a good (preferably free - though not necc.) system besides SAP for purchase orders? Web-based would be first prize but anything that can have its database accessible over a network is fine.

Any takers? Please? :D

What are the requirements etc? If you could give me some more details I might be able to help.

The current system deals with:

* creditors (payments,purchase orders,couple of reports)
* Goods receiving (purchase orders, GRnotes, crappy inventory-ish, couple reports)
* Purchasing (Local orders, int orders, inventory (crappy), supplier, account,cost centres, units of measure, daily receipts - local, daily receipts - int,couple reports)
* Quality control (GR by week - local, GR by week - int)

And this is on a freakin' '97 database if you can believe it. Every two days this database is replicated between JHB and EL (manually) and it's corrupt as hell and sucky.

Ideally I'd like to run a live database type thing where what you see in jhb is what you see in EL. We've got the WAN setup to do this fine so that's not an issue.

What we use for that with hosting is Clientexec and it can be modified for other purposes but mainly for services sales. So it has no stock handling capability at all. It runs using php and mysql and that seems perfect for what you're describing.

Sorry couldn't be of more help :(

Are you looking for a solution or simply a DB?

Have you tried searching sourceforge.net?
