Anything like that still? My brother has a small budget for a PC and a 1.8k Windows kinda means Celeron

The cheapest windows 7 i have seen is at Esquire at the moment , thats if you can find it at all , I dont think retail stores can get it any more.

Paying R1800 for Professional? What does he need it for? For gaming, 7 Home Basic or Windows 8 64-bit are both good choices. I'd pick 8, install the free 8.1 update, install classic shell or use Metro as a launcher and away you go.

There are also loopholes where you can use an upgrade version of Windows 8 to turn it into a full retail install, but the method escapes me now. If you want to use the upgrade loophole, retailers like Makro, Game and Incredible Connection still have upgrade packs available.

Go around your office and try to get someone with a windows pro laptop or whatever, use the key stuck onto the laptop - the company probably uses a corporate so that one is going to waste - heck, use a recovery CD if you can find one somewhere..

In that case you might as well download the official MS .iso image and use daz windows loader...

License sticker has to be attached to the machine that is using the license IIRC.
