Purchasing second hand Blackberry 8520!

I'm going to be purchasing a 2nd hand 8520, and will be using it on Vodacom. My concern though is there something the previous owner must do, so that I can register the BB on Vodacom BIS ? or is it as simple as resetting the device, sticking my sim card in and activating BIS.

2nd question can I use the prepaid option for BIS, I'm currently on Topup 49s with a few months of airtime in the bank ?

Firstly each blackberry has a unique pin number, and with this number the device is registered on the BIS network via whatever carrier (MTN or VC) you intend using, however, the device cannot be registered twice simultaneously, therefore this dude you purchasing from must de-activate his PIN before you can register on BIS unfortunately.. So don't purchase unless he deactivates the PIN first or you will be sitting with a lemon.

Secondly, BIS is available on prepaid on VC, but the friendly folk here can help you on this as I'm on contract...

Is there anyway to see if the device has been registered on BIS or BES as yet ?
