Howzit guys.... My X1 is able to support push email but to be honest im not sure of the pro's and con's of actually setting it up.

I have set up my hotmail account on my phone and when i wanna check emails i just let the account check for new emails.

I start work in march so not sure if it be better to wait till then to set up push email, as will be emailing a lot more. I have asked at my work, their email system does support push email.

Is push email costly and is it a seperate service i have to sign up for with MTN like the push to talk option.

Your advice will be appreciated;)

I use push mail constantly, as in the only time its off is when the phone is off. I pay at most R30 extra a month for the bandwidth. I've got it set to download 5KB of each mail, that way if I need the attachments etc I can choose to download them, otherwise I just mark the mail and read it when I am in the office. I send/receive probably around 200 - 250 emails a day.

Thats sounds awesome... for now just checking the email manually will suit me and then when start work definately set up the push email.

Once you've used it you just can't go back. I hated getting back to my desk after a couple hours and having to go through a ton of emails. This way whenever you have a spare 2 minutes you can get rid of a couple.

Though the service works really well (I sometimes get mail on my device before my PC!), be aware that it has quite an impact on battery life. If you're already charging your X1 daily, no problem - otherwise you might need to get used to doing that.

Very true. I don't make it past mid afternoon most days, but then I've accepted that I'm a heavy user. I have MSN as well as Office Communicator open most of the day. And I do most of my browsing to MyBB on here too. Posting from it now.

I can report similar costs with push mail, I use on constantly with my exchange server. I do about 200-300 emails a day and bill is normally between R25 and R35 for data per month. It's worth every cent.

I'm using it on a HTC P4350 battery life is about 2 to 3 days depending on my usage, which is awesome, used to have an Imate K-Jam and battery was maybe a day. I now have gotten into the habit of plugging my phone into the USB jack during the day.

If you don't have an exchange server to talk to another very nice free service that does push email, is from Emoze at www.emoze.com I use it for my gmail account on my device works very nicely.

Most probably, don't know Blackberry Connect. However R60 pm for email is expensive, I do a lot of email and my bill, max has been R35

The Blackberry connect is R69 a month and that includes Unlimited Email and on device browsing.

I have to be honest, I used a Blackberry for a very short time and did not like it one bit. ActiveSync just seems to work so much better, and WM 6.1 is just so much nicer. I know I'm going to be slated for that, but that is my opinion.

thanks guys for the advice, it definately sounds like something i will have set up the minute i start work. i am already a heavy user of my phone so charging the battery nightly wont be a big problem.

i agree with you sparky win mobile is better than the blackberries they arent that cool, i am loving win mobile on my x1.

okay... a bit late on this topic, but how do i set this up?
