Push notifications but no alert sound

I decided to upgrade my iPhone6 to iOS 9.0.2 yesterday, I was on iOS8 before and happy with it but thought I may as well do the upgrade sommer.

I'm now experiencing issues with push notifications. I get the notifications but not the alert sound to tell me that one has arrived.

I happened to be looking at my phone and saw the screen come on and display the alert but no sound (yes sounds are enabled fine, not muted etc.) It is very intermittant, sometimes works perfect other times not, next message came in and I got alerted as per normal. I know of 2 other people who have the same problem, different makes of iPhone and different iOS upgrade methods (I did restore, 1 friend did OTA, 1 setup his phone fresh - so isn't "how" you got to iOS9).

I did some searching around and seems to be a common(ish) problem:

http://forums.imore.com/ios-9/341319-notification-sounds-issue-ios-9-a.html
https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/18395 (admittedly that is more beta chatter, but doesn't seem to be linked to that)

There doesn't seem like any solution, people seem to think it is iOS related and not app related, which I tend to agree with.

Anyone experiencing this as well? Just a heads up.

I've noticed this mostly on Whatsapp and sometimes emails, but since iOS8 already.

Lucky I only noticed it since iOS 9, I wonder if iOS 9.1 fixes this, time will tell ....

Yup, this is something that popped up with iOS 9, mainly on Whatsapp, I have to constantly check my phone to see if I have a missed notification. Most frustrating.

Been missing plenty of whatsapp messages with this issue. I'm on 9.0.2. Hopefully this will be fixed with 9.1

If you've updated to 9.1 please let us all know if this solved your problem (I haven't updated as yet)

Still not working. Messages will appear in my notification list but no sound or banner on home screen.

Side note: 9.1 gave me the black screen issue too

Apps no longer sync with iTunes due to app thinning. End of an era...

Huh? Haven't read about that (well know about app thinning but not the sync thing) ... I tend to d/l Apps to iTunes then sync to phone vs downloading on phone, just how I always did it so dunno how that will affect me.

Sorry. I should have said you ant transfer purchases from the device to iTunes any longer. You can however still download in iTunes and then transfer to the device.

I've done my iOS 9.1 upgrade and haven't experienced the missing alert notification sound since. So seems it has sorted the problem out for me. Whew.

So anyone who had this problem update to 9.2 and have the problem fixed?

I didn't have the problem after I upgraded before from 9.0.2 to 9.1 (saw I never posted feedback saying that - sorry just forgot), so I'd think that 9.2 would also be the same, have got a few messages since I upgraded to 9.2 this morning and all seems to still be fine.

Decisions decisions... At the moment I guess not missing my notifications are more important then jailbreaking, so I think I'll probably update this weekend then, thanks.

Was the exact reason I went from my Jailbroken 9.0.2 to 9.1 before. There was only 1 JB tweak I really wanted (SwipeSelection) but am getting used to not having it any more.
