Ok so I have a normal DSTV PVR but now with proper broadband (well for SA anyway) and the fact that DSTV premium is just ridiculously priced now I want to can it, but when you do and go for say the cheapest option they disable the PVR functions !

So my question is surely I payed for the PVR and all its functions MC should not charge extra for me to use these functions ?

Any ideas ? ;)

As far as I'm aware PVR is avalible with DStv Compact but not DStv Select. I don't know if that rule has change.

That is what I gather from the website as well I want the bare minimum but want pvr lol..

Compact actually sucks ... I downgraded to it ... then thought I prefer Select ... been on Select for about 5 months now.

I just want the basics at 600 bucks I can rent whatever I want to watch

that's my point the functionality is on the device I have already bought why must I pay a monthly premium for it ?

Extra ?

Normal DSTV is like 500 or (whatever)
Dual view is like R550
PVR R 550 (That has dual view as well)
HD PVR R550 (That has the ability to record more than one channel at a time and view HD channels)

Where are you paying extra ? logic would say that you should pay R500 extra for dual view/PVR but they give it to you for R50.

It is 50 bucks for the "dual view" so to speak my point is even on the cheapest option PVR should be enabled ? what is DSTV doing extra each month for that R50 bucks ? and PVR is not an option on the cheapest option.

It is.... you just can't separate the dual view and PVR.

PVR functionality is killed by MC unless you pay the bucks for their repeats.

Yes that I get, but I am not "using" more bandwidth or whatever from the satellite whether they have 10 or 10 000 users they use one satellite, and they are not doing anything extra for that R50 if I take the cheapest option its 20 bucks a month and PVR is not available, so then according to logic if I pay another 20 I should get PVR ? Not a battle that can be won lol, just another money making scheme ....

Yea dude... you not going to get that 30 bucks from them.

Better to get the full package and then split Dual view with your neighbor, then you get the full DSTV for R250 odd and screw MC
