PVR remote not working on DSD910

Hi.

I've got a problem not sure if it's with the remote or the decoder. I bought a new DSTV remote, only realized when I got home that it says on the back it's compatible with DSD990 decoders, but at the bottom it said any DSTV decoder. Anyway the remote did not work. When pressing buttons the little green dot on the decoder flashes but nothing happens.

So I went back and got a Ellis PVR remote. Same problem. Green dot on the decoder flashes but nothing happens. Tried changing between TV1 and TV2, nothing.

I'm beginning to think the kids pressed some buttons on the Decoder that somehow changed a setting on the decoder to ignore commands from the remote. Is that possible?

The only other thing I can think of is to reset the decoder to factory default. But how can you do that if you can't get to the menu via the remote. Is there a way to reset the decoder from the buttons on the front panel.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

You see that rotating dial in the middle of the remote ?

Turn that until it works.

It's a Ellies BPUNIRMHD1 remote, no rotating dial.

Yes. the BPUNIRM is the original remote that came with the DSD910, but they are very bad quality. First thing that goes is the clips on the battery cover, and with kids around every time you want to use the remote you would find that the batteries are missing

That is why I opted for a better remote.

The funny thing is my friend has an old DSD660 decoder, and he uses a PVR remote on it. I took my DSD910 to Multichoice once to have it checked and I recall they used a PVR remote on it to check some settings. That was way back when the first SD PVR remote where released.

From what I understand a PVR remote is backward compatible to any older DSTV decoders.

Is it set to TV1? Try pressing shift then i... I can't remember if those are compatible with older model decoders.

Have tested on both TV1 and TV2. No luck.

Did you buy a new remote because the old one suddenly stopped working - I had to replace a old model decoder because the fault lay with the unit not the remote.
