Hi All

Got myself a HP Proliant Microserver N40L a few days ago.
Yesterday had an additional hdd added as well as a Sapphire HD6450 caRD.

Upon starting the machine, and trying to install windows 7 - it seems that windows cannot find the hdd's that are installed.

Taking out the Win7 cd, I noted then that it was giving the following error:

'pxe-e61 error - media not found'

Going into the BIOS the boot order is CD rom followed by network card, but again no hdd's are reflected.

Took it back to supplier today - they confirmed the error - and indicated that the sata controller card was not allowing the drives to be picked up.

They then logged a call with HP's service desk and provided all details - with HP to get back to them.

My question - has anyone had this error - and how has it been resolved.

btw - the time between purchase and setup was more than 48 hours - so no auto swop out.

Hi,

I've also had that error before and in my case it was after fitting a new graphics card.

I found it was due to the HDD cable not being seated properly on the motherboard. Check if it's all the way in.

Anyway, that was it for me.

The PXE error is given when it can't boot from LAN after trying other boot devices.

Chances are, that is your fix too..

I did ask the Tech Support guy to recheck all cables - he said no need to. (He had installed the graphics card for me initially).
Will ask him tomorrow to recheck..

check bios

You need to change the settings in the bios to address the hard drive as ide or native format. Can't recall the exact wording, but definitely along those lines

Good luck
