My SO has been waiting for news about a business arrangement for a while now. He is out of town this week and only returns Thursday eve. The news was e-mailed to me this morning but it is unfortunately not positive. I know it is something that was quite important to him and impacts quite a few other assignments and projects he has going.

He is basically in meetings and workshops the entire day every day until about 18:00 every night, from today till Thursday.

Should I -

a. give him the news now; or
b. tonight when he's done with work and more relaxed, but still not home so I cannot look him in the eye; or
c. Wait till Thurday when he is back?

Thank you to the combined Drs Freud of the forum :)

Tell him asap so he can maybe conjure up some sort of contingency plan or something.

Don't wait on it, rather tell him as soon as possible as he may be sitting worrying about it.

Aenema and Kitten, you're both in favour of now, but in my mind I was aiming for tonight, cos then it will at least not interfere with his concentation in today's meetings ... that was my thinking anyway ...

Congratulations, you’ve answered your own question…

Let’s be honest here right.

He is your boss, you sleep with the boss. However if my PA was to sit on something that I treated as urgent good or bad she will be kicked out the door so hard it will take reconstructive surgery just to fix her arse.

My point is, he is waiting for this news and has prepared for it, good or bad. He might have a plan if it's bad news but only has a certain time frame to execute the contingency plan. If you sit on it, he might miss that small window of opportunity.

But that's just me.

This is business, don’t use your heart to judge for you, use your head ;)

I was looking at it from my point of view as his wife, Pitbull. How to be that 'soft place to fall' for my husband.

You of course, must come charging into this thread like a bull in chinashop :D

Sorry :D

But honestly, it's business related it's not as if you are pregnant or anything. Like I said, timing can be crucial. This is the time where you play PA and not wife ;) Play wife when he's home.

But then again, you know the background to this so you should also know if there is a plan B or if it's just dead fail.

Pitbull is right - better now than too late, he probably has a backup plan.

he's going to find out now or later anyway, so rather do it now - Ænema's plan is not an option.

As a manager and business owner all you want is to know whats going on so you can plan around it. Information is more valuable than anything else

In your case (living and working together) you both know the pro's and cons. I'd say tell him sooner rather than later so tonight should be ok. As long as you are sure you know the full extent of the information and have the full picture of the effects and affects of it. You could also go the route of giving him a small amount of info e.g. "XYZ got back to us, it's bad news" and give him the rest of the info later. That way he can decide for himself how important it is to react now or later.

Tell him nekkid...

that could work if she's hot, but if blu is a bit on the chubby side, he might think "meh...i've had enough of this" and "go to buy a pack of smokes"

:D
