Qeustion : Route Sentry - Gaming Online

I'm a BF2142 player and the only thing that bugs me is my 2Gig inti. cap that I have 2 keep an eye on so that it'll last 4 the month.

Now I only play on local servers and that's were my 20Gig local cap could come in handy... but I first need 2 sign in 2 my account with my inti. cap

So I wanted 2 know how the Route Sentry will work :confused:

I'll probably have 2 purchase another ADSL account (thinking local only), then use Route Sentry:

But how will it work then when I sign into my BF2142 account (using my inti. cap) and then switch over 2 my local cap and play online with my local only?

OR:

Is there a way that I can use my 20Gig local cap that I currently get when I've reached my inti. cap?

And:

Using one modem and line 4 both accounts wont be a prob? And if I were to buy local bandwidth from Axxess, will my speed be the same as my Telkom connection?

Your 20 gig Local will only come into affect when you've used your 2 gig international. The reason Route Sentry exists is exactly that, to split international bandwidth (to go through one specific account only) and local (to go through another)

This way you don't pay extra just to surf or play local, and use the more expensive bandwidth for stuff that's really not hosted locally.
 
So if I understand u (AcidRaZor) correctly, then I won't have 2 purchase another ADSL account... I can just use my Telkom account.

I understood that I'll have 2 use 1 account 4 the local and another 4 the international, but if you are correct, then I wont have to pay anything more than I already do :)

You need two ADSL (ISP) Accounts. The software connects both accounts simultaneously, routing local traffic via the local-only account and all other traffic via the international account.

If you currently have two usernames and passwords, then you probably don't need another account. If you only have one account, then it won't work.

Get two Separate accounts. One intl & one local. Get a Linksys WRT54GL, put on the DD-WRT firmware and use Gatecrashers script to automatically route traffic. Check out this thread for more info

With route centry you'll have to set it up on each pc (if you have more than one pc on the network). With the Linksys solution it only has to be setup once and doesn't require any 'extra' configuration on the networked pc's.

Route Sentry is a program on your PC who dials up 2 connections and routes traffic through the one instead of the other and vice verse.

So if your modem can support bridged mode, you'll be able to use Route Sentry

ROFL, I wanted to say, there was something missing from those words, but decided to not to rectify it.:D

Still, if there is one thing in this world that really ticks me off, is when people can't spell. :mad:
