Hi All,

I've done some basic searching, and I'm still left confused. I'd like to configure QoS so that my VoIP works properly (1Mbps Mweb uncapped). Can anyone help me with the settings (Dlink DSL-2500U)????

Please explain
- Default DSCP Mask
- Queue config

Thanks in advance

You get 3 QoS Models
Best Effort where no QoS is applied to packets
IntServ (Integrated service model) Application signal to the network that they require certain QoS parameters
DiffServ (Differentiated Services) The network recognizes classes that require QoS

Default DSCP is for best effort class
DSCP (differentiated service code point) Is the field in the IP header that prioritize types of traffic.
you get 4 classes defined.

AF1
AF2
AF3
AF4

for your voice there should be a EF DSCP (expedited Forwarding) you should set your value to this for your voice queue.
the AF classes guarantees certain amount of bandwidth to a AF class and is allowed to obtain bandwidth from other AF classes if bandwidth is available

I take it, the queues config on your router is where you can assign all the above classes you want, up to 16.

The QoS Queue configuration is where you apply the above classed to the network interfaces.
I take it then when you plug in the devices on the network interfaces that would then determine what their traffic would be classified as.

For reference i found this manual http://www.pinteq.co.za/live/index....SL+Routers|DSL-2500U|dsl-2500u(Dx)_manual.pdf

hope this make sense :D

QoS is kinda useless unless you can configure the ISP side of things.
