I'm new to ADSL, but not computers.

I've decided to bypass the frustration of waiting for telkom by ordering a Billion modem/router online at the same time I ordered ADSL from telkom, and I think I must be one of the fastest ADSL installations on this forum. Waited two weeks for tel line installation. Ordered ADSL on Thursday (self-install), and was online by the weekend. My local telkom store is still waiting for my free modem, but I don't much care. ;-)

Anyway, I've got a network set up at home, and i'm enjoying my recently discovered online gaming experience, except that my beloved have discovered that I've hooked up her PC via the WiFi link to always on internet, and am now downloading all kinds of stuff ALL THE TIME. bless her soul. ;-/
This causes some frustrating slow-downs at inconvenient times, and even caused some disconnects from the server at intervals.
I'd like to make use of the QoS functionality on the Billion router, but the settings confuse me. How do I dicover which ports to open for BF 2142 and Guild Wars? And how do I set up the router for what I want?
It has settings for incoming and outgoing traffic, seperately, but don't i need BOTH to play online?
I've used WireShark to track my connections, and there seems to be a whole bunch of ports used on the BattleField server, but strangely, they all connect to a single port on my home PC (2968? i don't recall exactly). the data is mostly UDP packets. How do I use this info to configure the router?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, including comments on the effectiveness of using QoS. I've read some reports claiming that it's a useless function that only gives a benefit in some exotic and highly unlikely scenarios.
