Can anyone please explain how to setup QOS on the Telkom Billion 400G.
Keep in mind that I have no idea about where to start or how to do it.
I would like to give the PC my wife use for the normal e-mail, facebook etc. priority over the laptop running my torrent client on the same network.

I dunno about that particular router, but find out the port numbers for each service and stick em in the QOS page for the router. I'm not entirely sure this will have exactly the desired affect though its quick

If you're on a 4Mbps, then it might make a difference, but anything below that, QoS is very difficult to setup such that it will make a noticeable difference.

I have set up my MikroTik RB750 to give new and small HTTP connections priority over large HTTP/torrent downloads, but its definitely not enough to allow someone to torrent and letting others browse at the same time on my 384kbps connection.

I'm also very doubtful that a Billion router can do sufficient QoS, because you actually need to rate limit the stuff, which is what I do with my RB750.

The QoS setting in ADSL routers only works if supported by the telco, i.e. Telkom. As far as I know, Telkom does not make this available.

I had a look at this last year and never came up with good solution.

I looked at these but never got it to work well:

Alternatively, just limit the download PC with something like NetLimiter: http://www.netlimiter.com/ (warning, I found it to be a bit buggy).

Biometrics: is that with v3 that is still buggy?

I'm still using NetLimiter 2 Pro on my Win7 x64 and I haven't had any issues with it. I've only tried v3 during the beta testing stage and I wasn't impressed.
NetLimiter 2 Pro would allow you to set rate limits, and also allow it to be controlled remotely, which is quite awesome.

But at the cost of a NetLimiter license, you might as well just buy a MikroTik RB750 to do the same sort of thing, but limiting torrents is way easier with NetLimiter.

Well..I'm on a 384kb unshaped, uncapped. And that's were the problem lies. I have the torrent client running 24/7. But would like the second pc to have priority over the torrent downloads whenever the try to do the normal email, surfing, facebook..etc. At the moment I have the utorrent scheduler on to give them priority during certain times of the day. But I would have liked to have the downloads running at full speed, until there is some http activity on the network.

Good luck with it then.

Even I don't know how to help you out here. I mean, I can't even setup my MikroTik RB750 to limit everyone else enough to allow me to play CoD4 without lagging.
Currently I have to switch between limiting profiles each time I want to play.
