Hi guys

When you are given a QR code to scan in order to make a payment , can any 'scan pay' app be used? For example; snapscan, zapper or masterpass? Or does it have to be the one that is issuing the code ?

It's a bit silly to have all these apps when they do the same thing.

Thanks in advance

App specific.
You can't use the Zapper app on a Snapscan code etc.

Masterpass is still using SnapScan in the background.

Much like Wechat does.

No, Masterpass runs via a company called Oltio and is definitely not snapscan. There is interoperability between Snapscan and Masterpass to share info on the wallet holder to enable the payment when scanning each other's repsective QR codes

Interoperability is a fancy word for saying you are still using SnapScan.

Ultimately does the data and processing not gets passed on to SnapScan and isn’t done by Masterpass themselves?

I'm using a Lumia 950XL and there is no SnapScan app in the Windows store. I have been using the Standard Bank MasterPass app at places that use SnapScan.

So masterpass can scan snapscan codes ? Does it also work on zapper?

I only have Standard Bank MasterPass. This app recognizes MasterPass, SnapScan and Zapper QR codes. I have tried it on all three.
