Quad Core and Ram

It's that time of year again to upgrade.

Have an Asus P5KPL motherboard and I am looking for an entry-level quad-core (that will last me two or more years) and I have no idea what ram to buy because they come in four different speeds lol.

Any help would be appreciated.

well I upgraded over two years ago to a Q6600 on a gigabyte P35 board. and it is still a fantastic system. I OC to 3.0ghz and run 4gig DDR2 1066 with a GTX280. There is nothing it wont play! Laid out about 16-20k on it back then (that includes the gfx upgrades - from 8800gt to gtx280)

So Killadoobs suggestion is a good one, and you can OC the chip quite nicely.

Aa cooler is a must anyway. It will run for about 5 seconds without one.

A aftermarket cooler is what you need for overclocking.

Get a Cooler Master Hyper TX3. Best bang for buck cooler.

I only need to use my PC for 3 seconds

I don't that much about PC's, I just try follow the warped Instruction Manuals

Will check that out. My budget for my Ram and Processor is R2000 so Im gonna try fit this in too

Wootware is stocking Cogage (love child of Thermalright) coolers. Not sure what you want to spend on one, but the Cogage True Spirit looks like a mean machine and goes for about R360....
