Hi All,

I have done some reading on this and I still don't know why a quadro card costs like R35k and the geforce equivalent costs like R4k. I know the drivers are optimized and you have beter support, but unless I get like a 5min turn around time, I still can't justify the cost.

Quadro's are the only cards that is accepted by nVidia's Amaretto, Sorbetto and Gelatto 3D Drivers (3D Animation Software like 3dsmax and Maya)

They do what they say, and thats why they cost so much.

Think about it this way - Pixar can afford them.

EDIT: oh, and it probably sounded like I was ONLY talking about drivers - they are flippen fast hardware too.

The Quadro series is the professional range of cards, and you thus pay more, because you get more. If you're in that line of business (3D Animation, etc), then it would be the best to get in order to get the most out of your software.

My company only wants to do 3d modeling with Microstation and this is like once every 2 months... So, I would rather spend that money on a quad xeon and more memory than on the quadro...
