Quality study: SA's best and worst

Honda didn't participate in this year's study AFAIK. Otherwise, they would have come first again.

And what I find most interesting, and what no one has mentioned yet, is the often knocked Renault brand coming in third :

Best Volume Passenger Car Brand Overall
Gold: Toyota
Silver: Chevrolet
Bronze: Renault

And then for good measure the Megane gets silver in the "top sedan" section. He who laughs last.... ;)

Now lets wait for the parts and maintenance studies... ;)

This years one? And?

Well unfortunately this year's one only has the Renault Clio basket and you can see that it is not much more expensive as a percentage of vehicle value at 28.23% when compared to VW Polo (26.92%), Ford Fiesta (26.97%), Honda Jazz (27.81%), with the Mazda 2 a lot worse at 33.91%...

If you go back to the March 2006 Renault specific report you will see that this same pattern is followed across the whole Renault range. I have said on another thread it appears to be perception and a lot of heresy that drives this myth...

I like the way Land Rover manages to get worst and second-best in the same category.

Perhaps it's because they are effectively both TATA and Land Rover?

No, I think it's because the Defender is seriously old tech, while the Disco 3 is much more modern, and designed with modern quality processes. The Discovery 2 and 3 have been really decent vehicles.
