Yet. There have been some advancements in this area in recent years though. I still hold hope that we'll see more reasonable superconductivity in the next few years. Or at least a more reasonable and safe way in which to control the low temperatures...
Though I wonder if these floating trains and cars will replace good old petrol engines and will actually be more eco friendly. Since is uses magnets im sure they would be electromagnets in a sense because you cant have your magnetic field weaking over time on your magnetic roads? if so that electricity is going to come from a coal plant lol or event if they use a permanent magnet its got to be made somewhere with electricy anyways. Also you got to consider the human element, no one will steal tar roads but magnets made out of metal now thats a different story. They steal the damn cateyes of the road (how on earth they take it out?)
Next thing you could use it now and use liquid nitrogen tanks like how we use petrol tanks but its impractical. These things will never take of to be new transportation maybe for conveyer systems yes but not transport in terms of automobiles. I would assume to replace the current infrastructure would bankrupt half the world
They require incredibly low voltage, but high current power as the only resistance is in the feeder wires so they are far more efficient "users" of energy. Also, the lack of energy dissipation is a huge plus...
