Question about a car radio

So I recently bought a second hand car (A 1980 Mini 1275 if anyone cares to know), and I just got it back last night after getting it repaired. It has a radio in it, but I'm not too sure how to use it. Heres a pic of the radio I found on the internet: http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php?photo=18645&cat=500.
I tried to use it last night, but I couldn't get it to work. It was dark, so I couldn't really see what I was doing, but I'll try again this afternoon. I know the radio won't work, cause there's no aerial plugged in, but all I need is the CD player. I tried pressing all the buttons, and pushing a CD in, but it didn't want to switch on. Is there something I'm missing, or is it perhaps just not connected properly?
 
I once installed a Sony front loader in my 79 Colt Gallant and it didn't want to work. After allot of frustration I realized that it won't work until it has an antenna plugged into it at the back. But that was quite a few years ago and I don't know if it is the case with yours?

I had a similar problem once, the antennae was the radios earth.
 
Thanks. Apparently the radio (or at least the CD Player) was being used before I bought it. So I doubt it's the antennae. But I will try to check this afternoon if it has power.
Also, when you say reset it, is that the small button to the right of the G button?

Ah, thanks. Whoops, didn't notice the other numbers there haha. I thought it was strange to have a button randomly labelled "G"...
Cool so I'll try that as well. I was pretty bummed when I couldn't get it working...
 
So after hopelessly prodding at the reset button a few times I figured out how to disconnect the radio and pull it out. Lo and behold, the fuse is blown. Thanks guys! Anyone have any idea how much a new one will cost?
 
A new fuse will only cost a couple of rands. Take the blown fuse as a sample to any motor spares or electrical shop and they will sort you out.

Yip take sample with, also try closest sound shop, they will also have.
 
A whole R1 later and my Mini now has bangin' sound! Thanks guys!

You have an Aircon in your Mini? :D

Fk I would love to buy a Mini if I can find one for a good price :(

Noooo I wish. That's just a pic I found on the net.

The problem is also getting one thats in good condition. I paid 13500 for mine, which was probably a bit steep considering all the work it needed. But the body and the engine itself is fine, so it's not too bad.

I wish, I would love one to work on a bit day by day. Damn wish I saw yours before you bought it :D

Haha I actually wanted a bike orignally, but then I decided to rather get a car. I wanted something "different" but wasn't too sure what to get. I went on gumtree, and there she was on the first page :D
I (Well, actually my dad, but I will pay him back) have already spent R7500 getting her fixed up and road worthinessed. Still need to get the gearbox fixed tho, which is another 2500... Then there are other small niggles that I'll get fixed up over time, such as buying a new radio, because I can live with a radio that can't play mp3's, but I find it extremely annoying that the radio only goes from 76-90Mhz...

You should learn to work on her yourself otherwise she will be expensive to maintain.
