I have a fax2email account with a host which I shall not mention the name (they resell the IS service which is vax.co.za). I want to move to another host but I don't want to lose my current fax number. Any suggestions? I emailed IS support but apparently you need to be a customer with them otherwise they ignore your emails. Well that is what one of their former employees told me anyway.

blocks of numbers are assigned to licensees, which are then farmed out to resellers. because numbers ultimately terminate with hardware, i can't see how this will be achievable.
in short, if you change host, you change numbers. i don't see why hosts would allow some kind of forwarding on inbound numbers.

Yep! Beg to differ; but I changed ISP's over the last few years & all I did was to send the original company, from whom I obtained fax2email, was to send them an email, notifing of change of email addy & bingo they changed it on their side - now I receive faxes on new mail addy & retain same fax no!

but that's totally different from what the OP wants. he wants to change his server provider, not his email

You would need to port the number from the one provider to the other.

good luck!
