Ok, so i have BC installed already, now I have the wotlk cd here ,now my question is if I activate my account for wotlk then do i have to install stuff from the DVD,or will my wow try and download a couple of gigs which is what i am trying to avoid!

Well if you upgrade your account, you can't log in until you have installed the WotLK files.
If you already have all the patches, since ver 3.0 go ahead and install the expac, then just check but you might have to re-install those patches. I really hope for your part you did keep the files.

Maybe slightly off topic, and too late for you, but can be helpful for people looking to do a clean install. The WotLK DVD is a universal installer, so pop that in and it installs version 3.00 of the game client without having to do the old way of installing Vanilla WOW then TBC then WotLK. OFC you still need to patch your client to current version, but you backed up the patches right?
