I'm just curious, but would it be possible for a USB modem to pick up a virus? Say you plug your USB modem in to another PC that has some sort of autorun malware on it, and then plugged it back in to your system, would anything bad happen? I know with my ZTE MF 668, you can, I think, convert it in to a removable storage device by putting in an SD card instead of a sim card. I suppose then it might become vulnerable.

If your modem has a SD card inserted, possible, possible to "update" the firmware on the modem, but due to difficulty, unlikely.

You can insert a SD card, while you have your SIM card installed, it is an addition, not an either or situation.

I see. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I thought it was one or the other.
