Hi everyone.
Does anyone know if one can have a R9 280X in Crossfire with a 7750? If so, will there be a difference in performance in games? or will the 280X be slowed down by the 7750?

I won't attempt to run the R9 280X with anything other than another 280X or HD7970.

With only a single Full HD screen, you won't need more than a R9 280X either.

Ok, the reason I was asking is that although I am getting an R9 280X, I have no idea what I am going to do with my old 7750 :/

I would also like to know, do you have to use the same model of gfx card when running crossfire? Or do you have to run the same card?

If this is anything like Sli you need exact cards. I remember in sli days I could not even run a legend 8600 gt with the nvidia 8600 gt...

It has to be the same chipset to be able to run them in CrossFire, so you simply cannot run an HD7750 with an R9 280X.

Even if you could've done it, you would've had more issues than benefits by doing that! For instance: you'll need a bigger PSU, case and your airflow would be worse, causing higher temperatures for the R9 280X. You'll also require a motherboard with CrossFire 8x+8x support if you want to get a decent speed increase.

Fortunately my PSU is an 850 W(antec one with 80 Plus gold rating), case is the nzxt Phantom 820, and the motherboard which would've been used would be the msi z87-gd65 gaming. Although if they can't be run together in crossfire, I'll likely end up lending the 7750 to one of my friends who can't afford to upgrade anytime soon.
