If I have multiple devices on a home network and I want to give certain devices priority over others in terms of use of the internet data how do I go about setting this up using their mac addresses ?

eg TV, Phones, Tablets, PS4 and I want to give my PS4 priority over the rest of the devices while they are all connected to the internet

Using a TP link router

OR would it be best to rather just create different guest SSID and move certain devices to the Guest SSID?

DrayTek QoS/Binding/SSIDs

Hi Kido,

While I can't assist with the functionality of your particular router, perhaps our method may help.

Using our DrayTek routers, we would recommend configuring Quality of Service (found in the DrayTek WebUI under Bandwidth Management>>QoS).
If you're using DHCP on your network, we would then recommend binding those devices' MAC addresses to IP addresses, to ensure that the IPs stay relevant (found in the DrayTek WebUI under LAN>>Bind IP to Mac)

By assigning different ratios of guaranteed bandwidth to each device or a class of devices, you'll ensure equitable distribution of your available bandwidth.

The other option as some have mentioned above, is to have a rate-limited SSID per device/class of devices, which on the DrayTek is just found under the Wireless>>General settings.

Shout if I can help further.

thanks all
I think different SSIDs is the easiest option for me, because I can set the bandwidth limit per SSID
