How much do you pay in airtime per transaction and balance inquiry? And what network/service provider are you using?

For example I was previously with virgin mobile, all was completely free or less than a tenth of a cent so I couldn't see it charging anything. Im guessing cellc is also free?

Then changed to Telkom Mobile and BOOM!!! 20c to check ballance and 40c or R1.20 (bill is confusing) do transactions. Phoned them about the price and they tell me that its determined by my bank...hogwash! Why is virgin much cheaper then? (They just passing the buck to capitec as I asked capitec the same question and they said that it is determined by service provider-I believe them as virgin and telkom are two different rates)

Then I once again switched to MTN, 20c per balance inquiry and 60c per transaction.

Why not log into https://direct.capitecbank.co.za and check your balance?
It will use a few kilobyes of data (mostly for the capitec logo image)

I dont like the fact that i have to carry my token everywhere i go, and doing mobile banking is faster/simpler/easier and quicker then waiting for a page to load if you are on a slow network, then navigating to where you want to go on the website...not for me thanks.

i do hear and agree with you but im willing to pay for the extra convenience/simplicity. but believe me i do consider your advice but i don't want to carry around a massive smart phone everywhere i go with a massive external battery pack.

when smartphones get smaller+thiner and data networks become better/faster and more reliable on cheap devices, ill reconsider
