Hi Ockie

Hope things are going good on your side.

Wanted to find out.

My Alarm system at home runs a Vodacom Pre-paid sim for SMS notifications.
It also allows me to remotely connect via an application but in order for this to happen the SIMCARD/Vodacom network needs to be able to allow remote connections.

From what I heard these remote ports are blocked by default on the Vodacom network. In order for me to get access I need to have the sim card provisioned on an unrestricted Vodacom APN.

Question. Do you have any details on this ?

Thanks in advanced
Ryan

There is PM (private message) functionality especially for this kind of situation in which you want to ask a specific question of a person

He got upset on one of the threads, and haven't seen him since.
Sure has been quiet around here since then

Link?

OP, you need to ask Vodacom to enable the unrestricted APN on your cell number. I am not sure if you can do it for a prepaid service. If you email me, I will send you the form.

Hi All, Thanks for the answers

I eventually got hold of someone at Vodacom that knows what I am talking about

You need to fill out a form and log a call with them.

This is basically a Unshaped 3G connection

Not unshaped, unresticted as in there isn't a firewall on incoming connections.
