If there's a gardener who maintains the property do you give something for xmas?

This is my first year end at current abode, and I usually do give something this time of year but I'm wondering if that's necessary or expected?
tbh mostly because I think this guy kinda sucks at his job, he made quite a mess of a pathway where tenants walk digging up the empty bed alongside (nothing planted, so what was it dug up for?), takes ages to sweep, uses petrol edgetrimmer to weed the paving every time (2-3 times a week).
the last part I guess I shouldn't fault him as hard as I want to, I have to assume he doesn't actually know he constantly times his trimming with me in a Teams meeting somehow, and I can't hear a goddamn thing when he's outside my window.
so yeah if I have to be giving anything it'd be lumps of coal for this ****er

Sounds like he seriously needs some training and that is the function of his employer. Sanction the employer.

Huh?

You did not hire him. It's up to his employer to give him bonuses/perks. If I had to giver anything, I would rather give him stationery packs and books for his children if he has, than giving him money.

Why would it be expected? You never hired him, and even if you hired him, why should you give one?

Because people expect handouts they have not earned all the time.

Where did I say it has to be given?
