Question for vegetarians

I'm not a vegetarian, but I do know people who are. AFAIK most lacto/lacto ovo vegetarians don't do it for ethical reasons but rather religious or their own personal reasons. Vegans however do it for ethical reasons with some of them failing to take into account the millions of field animals that are killed in order for them to plant and harvest their food.

I thought it was a rather good analogy actually. But it clearly doesn't meet your own world view, so **** it is.

We both said the same thing, lol, much compost is **** :D

My world view is I really dont care what a person eats. Honestly, if you wanna be a vegan thats totally your choice. I may think its silly but I certainly would never take away your right. Where I get involved is when the lying starts. Like the misuse of the word, "murder" earlier in this thread, and the misuse of the word, "slavery" in one of the memes I posted. I have no problems with vegans, but when you guys start lying to justify your strange beliefs, then Ill have something to say :D I only started having a small interest in this when I saw exactly how much BS vegans spread. Its pretty much up there with a religious cult group. You can eat what you want, but dont pretend you are better than anyone else. You are not. You are not more moral, you are not more clean. You just have a different diet. That is all.

These pictures I posted above are what I got on my morning fb feed. lol

You will notice, almost every meme is built upon fallacious logic.

Why are you constantly trying to derail this thread. If you'd like to talk about veganism and how it's based on "fallacious logic" why not start a thread for that?

Well said, but I disagree with a few of your points. For example, I admire vegans for the power for their convictions and whether one thinks it's misplaced or not, I think they are well meaning people

It is possible to live a healthy lifestyle without animal produce and it is having that knowledge and caring about the plight of their fellow creatures on earth which surely gives rise to the 'strange beliefs' and the desire to convert others. Good on them I say.

I'm not vegetarian or vegan btw.

I admire vegans and vegetarians for their ethical viewpoints (although some veggies don't eat meat purely because of squeamishness or other reasons).
However, I do eat meat. As omnivores, I think meat does form part of our natural diet. I care about my fellow sentient beings so I try my best to source my animal products ethically.
But I think we do eat too much meat.
A primitive cave-dweller wouldn't eat as much meat as we do. Mostly berries, nuts, fruit with perhaps a few rats a week.
I try to respect the beliefs of vegans/vegetarians and hope they would do the same for me. No need for name-calling, badgering or bullying on either side. I think most carnivorous humans do feel (slightly or a lot) guilty, hence the defensiveness.

Because my pizza tastes way better with cheese and so does my muesli with milk.

I hate all this vegan fake cheese and fake milk stuff.

Are you vegetarian, if so what's your motivation for choosing that lifestyle?

yes I am vegetarian.

I stopped eating meat when I was still in Germany about 25 years ago. The reason was mainly all the craziness about the mad cow syndrome and other nasty animal diseases at the time there.
Cows had BSE, pigs the swine fever etc. So I stopped eating meat after one of my dogs died from something VERY similar to BSE.
I didn;t want to be the next one with a sponge brain and it was actually meant to be temporarily only until it was clearer how this all worked.

I discovered that meat is basically only a carrier for flavor / spices ( you can test this by frying a piece of meat without ANY spices; it doesn't taste nice ) and that you can eat nice and tasty food without any meat ( or fake vegetarian meat, I hate this stuff!).

I believe that everyone must make his own decisions and when my daughter wanted to eat some beef my wife made some for her and I tried it again, but I didn't like the mouth feel anymore of meat. My daughter also didn't like meat at all.

So I stayed on a "vegetarian" diet with eggs and milk products, but I enjoy regularly some nice fish.

My wife is a vegan, my daughter is now 8 years old and she eats like I do.

Interesting point about your daughter. My wife and I had a daughter in July and we need to decide on what diet she'll be raised on (my wife is an omni). I'm in favour of my daughter making her own choices, but only when she's old enough - maybe 2-8 years old.
