Good morning all.

My MTN contract is expiring this month and I have some questions. I visited a branch and they told me the original contract amount will continue to be deducted. I find this incorrect as the device is now paid off and the amount must be reduced to only data and air time.

Can someone please explain or shove me in the direction of a MTN rep if there is one here.

Thanks all.

Nope, they are correct. Even though you paid for the device by then they still rip you off until you change your contract.

I would recommend porting over to another network, and go prepaid if you can.

Actually, the way I understand it, they will charge you full price for the contract once your term ends (if you had a discounted package).

They're correct, as that is the subscription fee you signed up for. Cancel the contract, port to a top up contract and use Afrihost data, if you're still happy with the reception you have with MTN.

Technically what the Agent Said is Correct... Because you are not specifying anything that is changing...

Like if you were to upgrade to a new phone the terms change so then your payment changes... You need to tell them/Request from them that you want to continue with the contract but you are not upgrading and ask what contracts they have with just data and airtime...

And choose it... Else the terms dont change and they just charge you after the contract expires...

In your case you are still happy with your device and expect a lower payment now... but you have to Get the Contract options and Tell em what you want...

They are trained that if the customer doesnt ask then they dont do anything about it.

So be explicit in what you want

After your contract is over they change you to month to month. It's up to you to decide whether you want to take another contract or move to prepaid, or stay on month to month.
